Fifteen

Fifteen years of marriage has been better than fifteen minutes of fame, I'm sure.  I never dreamed of being a One Hit Wonder, but I always dreamed of growing up and having One True Love.  Doug is definitely my biggest fan, and he treats me like gold.

He took me to a really nice, quiet, romantic dinner, and gave me long-stemmed red roses.  We talked about all the things we love about each other.  Fifteen years ago, I had a few good reasons that I knew Doug was a good man, plus lots of hopes, dreams and expectations.  Now we know each other so much more intimately, and even though that means our flaws are more obvious to each other, it also means that so many of my hopes and expectations about him have been confirmed.  He is as good as he seemed to be then, in my innocent, rose-colored, nineeen-year-old appraisal.

Marriage may be harder than I wish it to be - so is life in general, married or not! - but Doug is an easy companion.

My dress still fits...barely! (I could zip it up, but then I could hardly breathe!) When I tried it on, I was swarmed by little girls wanting to touch me, and calling me a "princess."  I faced the flash of the camera and tried to smile.

If that was my fifteen minutes of fame, I'll take it.  And I'll also take another fifteen years of this marriage...and fifteen more...and fifteen more...

You're still a "beautiful bride"!! And a mighty handsome couple!! CONGRATULATIONS! Love you both and the 5 wonderful daughters that have joined your family! Love that you write down your beautifully composed thoughts and feelings (along with pictures)! Remember the Christmas gift I want . . . . a CD copy of your blog. :)

And it was funny to realize I've spent more of my life with you and Doug married than not. Love you both!

Happy Anniversary! You truly make a cute couple. I love that you tried on your dress. I rented my dress so trying mine on to see if it fits isn't an option. Probably a good thing for I don't think it would.

WOW! Happy Anniversary! How nice that you can say what you did about your husband and being married, could there be a bigger blessing in this life than a good relationship with the person you chose to spend your life with?

AND I think you look awesome in your wedding dress! That's why you should keep it around and haul it from house to house for 15 years - just for a fun moment like that.

:) PRINCESS BRIDE REVISITED!...

First I've visited your blog in WAY too long!!
Happy 15 to 2 of my favorite peeps!

I didn't rent my dress... but still, I don't want to go there...
not ALL women are Rebecca/Kara/Gerb's ~ who'll be the same slender dress size on the 30th & 50th, etc... :)

PS: Another fun thing about finally clicking here again, was noticing that out of all the advanced blogger design options these days, we both chose the same one! (i had to scroll down to the tiny print at the bottom to see if yours said the 'josh' name designer guy thing too!

Congratulations on 15! I probably should say congratulations, too, on still getting into your wedding dress! Very impressive and a feat I have not tried to do (and probably never will)!
