...choose a dentist?
Do you choose someone you know personally? Or do you avoid personal relationships with medical professionals? I'm not sure I want my dentist to be that up close and personal with my face/mouth in his office, and then casually say hello at church on Sunday. Knowing someone is a dentist, even if he's not my dentist, makes me self-conscious around him. What if I have bad breath? I already know that I have crooked teeth, which are not perfectly white. Do I want someone I know personally to get a really close look at them?
Here's a unique set of choices for you to help me with right now. I could :
A) Go back to the dentist we used to see 6+ years ago when we lived in this area before, although I'm sure he wouldn't remember us, and I have no special feelings towards him as a dentist. He wasn't bad. (And for a dentist, that's a compliment, I'd say.)
B) Go to a dentist who was in my last ward. All I really know about him is that his wife is delightful! :)
C) Go to a dentist who lives in my new ward. I saw a girl asking him questions about her orthodontia this past Sunday, and I wondered if she's his patient or not. I suppose he could be a handy resource either way. And I bet he might get tired of that. But maybe not.
D) Pick a random stranger from my list of participating dental providers. Maybe the closest one to my house?...
Ok, vote now. And hurry, because I need to schedule appointments before it skips my mind again!

I vote B! :) So good to talk to you today! The first time I met you at enrichment, I knew we would be good friends. Good luck with all the barf!
You ask your friend, Gerb, who has 2 dentists she LOVES (one pediatric, for Herbie, and one not pediatric, for everyone else). Dr. Christiansen is in North Orem. Even Allen-the-elder likes him (not an easy task with dentists). The pediatric one is Dr. Lund, in Provo. Call me if you want more details!
Hi Rebecca! I found your blog through Kim's...and our new baby shares Olivia's birthday! About the dentist - whatever you do don't ramdomly pick one, we did that twice and have regretted it, really regretted it, twice. If anything ask someone you know if they would recommend their dentist.

Was it the Stroganoff????? EWWWWW.
And as for the dentist...Mike didn't go for 10 years before we were married and so I say you have some time on your hands. I say go to the guy you went to before.

I vote you go with the guy at church. Then after every appointment you ask for the "members" discount with a big wink, and if it is not at least 50% off you make a big huff about it in church on sunday and start spreading rumors about them in relief society. That is what I hope happens to me
PS I am hurt that you speak so poorly of such a noble profession
I know a great one right off 123rd in Draper. He has a delightful wife, too (my good friend Lindsay). I liked him because he was good with me and my kids, he was really good at making the fillings fit (didn't have to sand it down and recheck a million times), and he didn't try to ask me a million questions and/or make me laugh while he was working on my teeth.
